Hump Club Get Your 4th On

/ PRV
07.04.18

It’s the 4th of July. Which means Independence to most Americans, but also BBQs and sun and hotdogs and ice cold beer. And music. Always music. So while you’re doing all those things, eating dogs and keeping cool with a brew, sip on our Hump Club. See if anything sticks.

Listen to SadGirl

LA’s SadGirl sounds like what you’d hear on your dad’s ’64 Mercury Comet cruising down the highway to catch a wave. Formed by Misha Lindes on guitar/vox, Dakota Peterson on bass, and David Ruiz on drums (who also plays in The Paranoyds), SadGirl has a new 7″ dropping on Suicide Squeeze soon for single “Breakfast For 2.” Press play, and indulge in those jukebox vibes.

Watch The Parrots’ New Video for “Girl”

Madrid’s The Parrots do surf inspired psych pop so well, you’d think they were California bred. Their new video for “Girl,” a track produced by The Horrors’ Tom Furse, is a technicolor, vintage store dream, with pulsating colors that make the sun-tinged song shine. I could watch this for hours.

Listen to Drake’s New Album

Drake’s new album Scorpion dropped last week, and it’s already broken all sorts of records. Which doesn’t really mean anything. Except it’s pretty damn good. So go listen to it.

Watch Khruangbin’s Video for “Cómo Me Quieres”

Hazy, fuzzed-out rhythms mixed with camcorder style lo-fi tropical visuals? Yes please. Khruangbin’s slightly new video for single “Cómo Me Quieres,” off their second album Con Todo El Mundo, is vacation personified. And exactly what you need right now.

Listen to Matteo Debole

Matteo Debole, according to photographer Darren Ankenman, is a “pretty cool kid.” The 18-year-old Sherman Oaks native has this surf, oldies, dop-wop style take on rock ‘n’ roll that’s completely uplifting and totally infectious. Listen to his single “Cherry,” off his new EP High Marks For Chutzpah.
