Kelsey Brookes was a scientist and now he’s an artist — perhaps he’s always been both, and still is. But the juxtaposition of this is just magic.
We recently went to the North Shore of Oahu and posted up on the deck at the RVCA house at Off the Wall (believe me it’s where you want to be). It has everything from Danny Fuller playing with his daughter before paddling out at massive Off The Wall, to nonstop stop-ins from every legit local on the island and world renowned artists, musicians and skaters — there is really nowhere we’d rather be.
And it’s exactly how we got this rad opportunity to post up with fine artist Kelsey Brookes. He hangs there too. Kelsey lives in San Diego and has surfed his whole life (which is really just a bonus at this point) because his artwork is something special. It has appeared in shows and galleries across the world and his philosophies on life are as fascinating as the lines he paints. We pulled up a chair as he worked on an original piece right there on the deck at the RVCA house.
