Deadline Update Collected Thoughts 059

Pontas Al polar skateboard company what youth arto saari the copenhagen project

OK, we’re not as fucked as before. But when you make a lot of rad shit, this sort of thing happens. And someone famous once said, miss a deadline or blow the budget no one remembers. Do shit work, they remember forever. Something like that. Anyway, we’re very hard at work on Issue 6, The Copenhagen Project (Out December 13), A Fairly Normal that will blow your mind twice, and we also got new t-shirts in (on sale Friday).

Above you’ll find an outtake from Arto Saari and our massive Copenhagen feature. That’s Pontus Alv, Sweden’s DIY revolutionary and all-around legend of skateboarding. He is as authentic as it gets and we can’t wait to show you what he has to say about the direction of our culture.

And be sure to check back Monday for part 2 of our Afternoon Interview with Geoff Rowley. And we may just launch the second episode of Lizards of Summer tomorrow. It’s Blake Myers’ finest work.

John John Florence in Barbados

John John in Barbados Collected Thoughts 001

This is John John Florence by the ghost of an Olympic pool at an abandoned resort in the parish of St. Lucy near the northern tip of Barbados, and what a useless cavity in the ground has he got here. The walls are too vertical to skate, there’s no water to ease the heat, there’s…
