Behind the Scenes with Ishod Wair Photos by Arto Saari during filming for Anonymous Zone

Ishod Wair won Thrasher Magazine’s Skater of the Year in 2013. No small feat, and after this trip it’s pretty apparent why he won. Every spot we went to he got at least one clip. He’s the real deal. So consistent. So rad. And he’s fucking hilarious to be around.

Anytime he was trying something gnarly he would dedicate it to somebody, which I thought was great. When he varial heeled the 12, he yelled “This one’s for Reynolds!” He landed it that try. Then, when he was trying to heelflip this drop off a ten stair hubba thing he yelled, “This one’s for Lindsay Robertson, last try, fuck it!” He stomped it that try but snapped his board.

While he was trying that trick this weird, seemingly homeless or crazy woman, was yelling and laughing the whole time. She said Ishod looked like Michael Jordan. Once he snapped his board she went over to him and hugged him and tried to kiss him. He was squirming away, and somehow she managed to lock lips with him and attempted to put her tongue in his mouth.
