Until you’ve hurt your back, it’s hard to explain how difficult life can become. Much less surfing.

As part of the bizarre injury coincidence that the Wright family has had to deal with, Mikey looks like he has finally put his back injury behind him. No pun intended. Hopefully, Tyler and Owen are also on the mend.

With a cannon-shot start to his comp season a few years back – which seems like an eternity ago – Mikey is looking the goods to get something similar rolling again once the WSL thing finds a way forward. Not that we care about the comp side so much, just seeing him getting out amongst it again in his trademark approach is encouraging. We’ll take a sick vid part over an equal 9th or something similar in two foot slop.

That said, Mikey competing at G-Land would be cool.

Yep, this footage is pre-COVID but it does look promising as we slowly move to whatever surfing’s new normal is to become.
