Listen to PAINT, Debut Solo Project of Pedrum Siadatian (Allah-Las)

PAINT is the debut solo project of Allah-Las guitarist/singer Pedrum Siadatian. And his sound, naturally, retains a similar hazy, California vibe while also throwing out some beautiful, experimental arrangements that fit perfectly in the atmosphere of poetry as music. With the help of cinematic psychedelic producing wizard, Frank Maston, PAINT portrays a vivid landscape, surrounded by flutes and synths and languid, Lou Reed-esque vocals that float, balloon, and swell out with the sea. Speaking of solo projects, Pat Thomas, the singing/writing/bass-playing force behind San Francisco’s Cool Ghouls, is dropping his debut solo album on October 26th via Empty Cellar Records. Check out “The Money Guys,” a soothing Beach Boys-sounding, fully arranged classic that sounds 40 years old. And I mean that in the best way possible. So listen up.

Night Beats’ Share New Track, “Her Cold Cold Heart”

Texas-based shredders Night Beats have a new song out in the world, and it’s better than anything I could’ve expected. “Her Cold Cold Heart,” the first single from their upcoming fourth studio album “Myth Of A Man,” is languid, drugged-out country at its very best, like Lee Hazlewood tripping down a dusty road. The album features contributions from Dan Auerbach, and you can tell in the overall production of the track, which is a pretty stark contrast from Night Beats’ usual psychedelic explosion of sound. Instead, the song is moody, hypnotic, an elegy to love and loss and irrevocable heartache, something only music can translate. “Myth Of A Man” drops January 18th on Heavenly Recordings.

Japanese psych shredders have a new video out for their single “Nazo Nazo,” off their debut album “Masana Temples,” out October 5th. The song is one of the slower, thoughtful productions on the otherwise proto heavy debut, reminiscent of Tony Iommi’s instrumental interludes on every Sabbath album. But what stands out about this is the video. Directed by Elliott Arndt, “Nazo Nazo” is a psychedelic, abstract, art-house masterpiece. The dancing cut-out face is my favorite part.
