West Bay Native Tony Molina sounds like something you’d discover digging through your local record store in the miscellaneous M section, purposely placed for consumption yet reserved for only those who know. Well, now you know. Start consuming. His new album “Kill The Lights,” a ten-track explosion of emotion and tenderness and arrangements akin to the Byrds, is barely 14 minutes long, and yet the songs linger, working their way into your memory and spirit like a nostalgic rubber stamp. Moody, atmospheric even, with synth elements that snap and crackle in electrifying waves, Jerry Paper is pure bedroom pop, best served with a pillow and a long-stemmed cocktail. Lucas Nathan, the man behind the band, weaves this hazy shade of pop that’s familiar yet refreshing, and a sound so cinematic, you’ll be daydreaming in no time. “Your Cocoon” is the first track off his forthcoming album “Like A Baby,” out October 12th on Stones Throw.

Cat Power Has A New Album

Cat Power, the seminal powerhouse siren, has finally returned to us. And by us I really mean me. I spent most of my teenage years memorizing her songs and her pout and her sultry, cigarette-stained voice, loaded with so much sadness and power that a slur could bulldoze a 30-story building. Now, six years after her last musical endeavor, Cat Power’s new record “Wanderer” is brimming with that same power, plus an added attitude and energy to dispel any negative Nancy’s out there.
