“Walrus are here to play for the sake of the song.” That’s the opening line to psych dreamers Walrus, a new four-piece from Halifax, Canada. They debuted earlier this month with Family Hangover on Dan Mangan’s Madic Records, an album they describe as a “fuzzed-out electric blanket of soul with unrepentant strands of authentic heaviosity,” teetering just on the edge of Spacemen-3-style “saucer drone-attacks” and subtle hints of Slowdive-sounding shoegaze. And today, we’re stoked to premiere the new video for single “Later Days”, which plays out backwards and in slow-motion, to fully compliment the band’s hazy, psych-tinged sound. So press play, and keep an eye on these guys. With a Townes Van Zandt reference in their bio, I bet they’ll be around for a while. –Maya Eslami
