That’s right. Ty Segall has a new album dropping January 27th on Drag City Records, and today, he’s sharing the debut single, “Orange Color Queen.” The album, his second self-titled since 2008, will feature former Muggers cohorts Emmett Kelly, Kyle Thomas, Mikal Cronin, Charles Moothart, and Ben Boye. 

I had the pleasure of seeing Ty perform an acoustic version of this song at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery a couple weekends ago, and, in introducing the song, he dedicated the ballad to his girlfriend, or maybe it was his orange cat? I can’t quite remember now. Either way, the recorded track with a full fledged backing band, is just what you need today. Soft and sweet and throbbing with spectacular instrumental harmonies.
