Gooch Palms, the Australian garage punk duo that is Leroy Macqueen and Kat Friend, pack a lot of punch for a band consisting of solely guitar and drums (two, to be specific). After debuting in 2013 and touring relentlessly for the last couple years, and permanently relocating to Los Angeles, Gooch Palms unveiled their follow-up album Introverted Extroverts this past June on their own label Summer Camp Records. Talk about taking care of business. The album, pure garage punk gold, was recorded during a tour hiatus in Benton Harbor, of all places, with the help of Bill Skibbe (of the Kills, Protomartyr, and Jacuzzi Boys), and it rules. So turn on, tune in, and drop out (or in) on these dudes, and make sure to see them live. Macqueen’s penchant for nude antics and Friend’s delivery as a stand-up drummer is something you’ll definitely want to see in person. –Maya Eslami
