Record Store Day, the annual event conceived in 2007 to celebrate the independent record store, is upon us. Tomorrow, April 16th, thousands of independently owned vinyl shops around the world will open their doors, unleashing a myriad of either unreleased, rare or specially repackaged records to the record collecting community that thrives on the physical longevity of music.

Check out the site, where you can plug in your location and instantly see the participating record stores in your local zone. But remember, not every record store will carry all releases, so check first before trecking down and waiting in line.

Includes six songs Bowie recorded for Pye in 1966. A side of Bowie you’ve maybe never heard before.

2. Lush – Origami (box set)

The 5LP collection contains the band’s three albums, 1992’s Spooky, 1994’s Split and 1996’s Lovelife, as well as their two singles compilations, 1990’s Gala and 1996’s Topolino.

3. The Kinks – Mr. Pleasant / Dave Davies Hits on 7″

4. Air – Casanova 70 (12″ EP)

5. Cheap Trick – Found New Parts (10″ EP)

‘Found New Parts’ references Cheap Trick’s 1980 4-tracker ‘Found All The Parts’. This 10” single comes with three tracks from the new album as well as the exclusive “Arabesque”.

6. Big Star – Complete Columbia: Live at University of Missouri 4/25/93 (2LP)

Because you should own every single Big Star album you can get your hands on. “This two LP Record Store Day gatefold package finally captures that full historic set for the first time on a commercial release, mastered at high resolution from the original master tapes, and adding five previously unreleased performances to it’s original release in 1993 and now accurately re-titled, Complete Columbia: Live at University of Missouri 4/25/93.”

7. Violent Femmes – “Memory” / “You Move Me” (7″)

The single “Memory” from their new album We Can Do Anything (2016), along with an unreleased song “You Move Me”.

8. Johnny Thunders and the Heartbreakers – Vive La Revolution (Live in Paris 1977) (LP)

9. Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention – “My Guitar” / “Dog Breath” (7″)

A reissue of the 1969 single, remastered and reworked from the original mono recording.

10.Ramones – “Judy Is A Punk” (7″)

Because how cool would it be to own a 7″ of this song? “Recently discovered 1975 lost demo alternate versions of “Judy Is A Punk”. Straight from the original demo master tape.”
