Quiksilver definitely needed this, but we all fucking needed this. After much anticipation of whether the Eddie would run or not, the contest lived up to the hype, we got a beautiful way to honor these madmen, and it was an opportunity to honor Eddie as well as Brock Little, the most recent friend we in surfing had to say goodbye to.

Our dear friends at the WSL just put out the highlights from the other day and it just really put into perspective how hard the boys were hucking themselves over those mountains of water. Most notably Clyde Aikau, at age 66, charging the biggest Waimea seen in years without hesitation. John John ultimately took the crown, but honestly, this wasn’t a competition. This was beautiful surfing.
