Here are one or two things about the people in this piece:
Before this summer, Owen Wright had never really been to America besides for surf contests, and during contests you don’t really do anything else. So this year Owen came with his lovely girlfriend, who’s studying for her teaching credential, and they just did American things. They went to Six Flags and the San Diego Zoo. And Owen surfed Trestles.
Taj Burrow just remodeled his house in Western Australia, on a property he’s owned for around 10 years and says he’ll never leave. Now after the remodel, the house is circular. It’s a round house. It looks out over Taj’s favorite wave but when Taj is away from home, and in California in particular, he surfs Trestles instead.
Jack Freestone, Mitch Crews and Creed McTaggart are in France. They’ve just arrived. There’s a surf contest there and then they’ll be posted up in a rented Hossegor flat to film and enjoy summertime. But before they left for Europe they were here in California, and they surfed Trestles.
