Randy Holden was the guitarist of famous ’70s rock band Blue Cheer. He was one of the pioneers pushing the boundaries of heavy, really loud rock ‘n’ roll. After he left Blue Cheer he recorded his own album “Population II” but the album was never officially released, but at some point it leaked unbeknown to Randy, and developed an underground following. Randy had since quit playing and moved to Hawaii, and while living in Hawaii, about 10 years later, he found out that he had a huge following from the leak, but never made a cent off of his music. Unknowingly he had inspired a whole generation.
He now lives back in CA and is actively making music and there is some talk of him touring again. In this Afternoon Interview we talk about guitar sounds, his glass guitar, Population II and Blue Cheer.
