WY Premiere: BOYTOY Listen to single “Mary Anne” off their brand new record

what youth recommends BOYTOY Mary Anne

BOYTOY, our favorite Brooklyn-based babe shredders, have a new album dropping April 27th, and we are beyond stoked to premiere the first single, “Mary Anne,” a song about “the feeling that comes with a new crush, a new lust,” says guitarist/vocalist Saara Untracht-Oakner. “No matter how brief, that excitement, that electricity, takes over your body and consumes your head-space. It lingers after that person is gone, like psychedelic trails that you can still feel, until they dissipate into a faded dream.”

Together with Glenn Michael Van Dyke, Chase Noelle, and Lena Simon, BOYTOY – yes that’s in all caps for added momentum, we prefer shouting the band name, you should try it – teeters on the edge of sweet-as-pie surf harmony and the more destructive, thrashy edge of pure rock ‘n’ roll, creating a sound entirely their own and backed with a slap of attitude. Their sophomore LP, Night Leaf, was recorded at Kyle Mullarky’s Pump House in Topanga, in the thick of his menagerie of old analog tapes and tube amps and pigs and dogs and surfboards. And the vibe is there, spread like butter across ten solid tracks. So drop everything you’re doing. Press play on their new single and soak up BOYTOY’s flavor. –Maya Eslami

Night Leaf drops April 27th on PaperCup Music (US), Stolen Body (UK), and Burger Records (cassette).
