There was a contest starting the next day. The Rip Curl Pro Search, SF. Rad comp. Rad city. Rad holiday. It was all happening. Dane had first heat the next morning, of course, But it was Halloween and the show must go on. Besides, a stop at a thrift store in Big Sur on the way up yielded a Halloween bonanza of costume fodder. We stayed IN the San Francisco RV Park in Pacifica, California during the event. Great accommodation.
Dane’s costume included drawstring jeans, a lovely sweater and a pair of size 12 Jack Purcells, plus something with hair for his head. Dane called it “Jason Mraz.” Still not sure why. I think it was the silly shoes. The night included a lovely dinner, some dancing, and then Dane pulled the pumpkin plug and was home by midnight. Can’t remember if he made his heat or not. Pretty sure he didn’t. Definitely remember that night though. We should be dressing up like this on more days than just Halloween — that was the night’s consensus.
