What do you do when a place has no respect for time or light or dark or anything outside of enjoying and capturing every fleeting moment presented? Well, you melt right in. Welcome to Barcelona.
Last weekend in the beautiful city of Barcelona, we snuggled right up to the Mediterranean and tagged along with our friends at Brixton to attend their two night stint at Apolo. 7 bands — including Spanish party outfit The Parrots, Italian surrealists Sultan Bathery, Spanish revolutionaries Wau Y Los Aarrghs, and the hard-hitting Greek’s in Bazooka and many more — tore the place apart and left nothing but ash and sweat and ringing ears and blurry memories of a night you want to recreate over and over again.
Over the course of the two nights we saw fire-breathing in the pit, dance-able, head bang-able, smash-able and very likable psychedelic rock ‘n’ roll. And the best part? It felt real. There were no corporate sponsors for the show. The bands were all local and underground and extremely fucking passionate. Haven’t seen that in a while amid the sea of large and lazy festivals circulating the globe, it was refreshing to see that Brixton kept it local and underground. A simple formula is the Brixton Broadcast: go to a city, open up the doors and let the locals shred. And that, as you’ll see below is what they did.—Travis
Below are some photos and music from bands you’ll love and hopefully be seeing more of. And wait until you see the video…
