Kevin Morby released a new video today for the title track off his latest album, City Music. The video, directed by Christopher Good, features some awesome cameos from King Tuff, Rodrigo Amarante, and actress Tipper Newton. But it’s the song that kills me on this. Starting off slow, with a lullaby lead-in and a gradual acceleration in tempo, “City Music” reflects Morby’s effortless reinterpretation of “folkrock”, and I’m really into it. “It’s a rare song for me,” Morby says, “in that it’s more about the guitar than the lyrics.”
I spent the last three weeks wandering around Europe with Kevin Morby as my soundtrack – more on that later – and the vibe on this album could be your perfect summer feel. So listen up. —Maya Eslami
