Cass McCombs is an exceptional musician. That goes without saying. And after fifteen years of producing exceptional music, he’s back at it with his eighth studio album and first off new label ANTI-, set to drop August 26th.

Wonderfully titled Mangy Love, because what love isn’t mangy at some point, the album features guests Angel Olsen, Blake Mills, and his usual cohorts Dan Horne and Rob Schnapf. But more importantly, the album has McCombs’ heading into uncharted musical territory, as he ventures into “groovy realms of Philly soul, Norcal psychedelia and New York paranoia.” Whatever that may mean to you, his new calypso sounding, beat poetry influenced single for “Run Sister Run” is definitely new.
