If there weren’t enough fuzzy garage quasi-proto psychedelic bands popping up in the musical stratosphere already, let me introduce you to Walter, a new trio from LA starring Patrick Nolan (Meatbodies), Ross Chait (Ducktails), and Misha Lindes (SadGirl). Check out their first video for “Ice Cream” below.

Walter reminds me of that era of Ty Segall/Tim Presley collaborations, sprinkled with some shaved Meatbodies toppings (duh), and a dash of Fuzz’s crashing instrumentation. Their influences aren’t on the nose though, so don’t worry, this wont be one of those déjà vu listening experiences. Walter sounds new in a way other new bands only try to sound, with a fresh take on a familiar vibe that’s already ingrained in our rock ‘n’ roll sensibilities.

Walter’s debut album Get Well Soon was released October 16th through Bandcamp only (so far) and streaming live on SoundCloud. They’re also supporting similarly rock minded dudes Fuzz throughout November on the road – check tour dates below. Patrick Nolan crashed our interview with Chad Ubovich of Meatbodies back in August, and if his performance and sarcasm are anything like what I remember, Walter is bound to be a good act to watch. —Maya Eslami
