You know when a band slips into your musical consciousness so easily that you’re left wondering, how was I ever getting by without this magic? Well, Milk Music, a four-piece from Olympia, Washington, are that band for me today. Formed in 2008 by Alex Coxen (vocals, guitar) Joe Rutter (drums), Charles Waring (guitar), and Dave Harris (bass), these anti-grunge northwesterners strum up fuzzed-out, lo-fi, guitar-wailing balladry so compelling and with varying degrees of punk and grit and exuberant noise that I can’t stop listening to them. And neither should you. So pour some Milk Music in your glass today – I had to – and drink it up. It’ll do your body good. —Maya Eslami
