Listen to The War On Drugs Their new album drops August 25th

Remember The War On Drugs? The indie wonders from Phillie are back after a three year pause with new album A Deeper Understanding, a “band record” that’ll please their truest fans and ensnare some newbs looking for a mellow soundtrack for the summer. Their new single “Strangest Thing” dropped today, and its somber, self-reflecting serenity will put you in a daze, whether you like it or not. Infused with frontman Adam Granduciel’s gritty, heartworn vocals, and the instrumentation of a band at peak collaboration, A Deeper Understanding is finally an album to write home about. And although it may sound like all their other cuts, sip this one in deeply and see how it settles. –Maya Eslami
