“I just don’t think I believe you love.” That’s the chorus of Private Island’s new single, “Turbulence,” and its buttery groove and smooth R&B flavor is the perfect anti-love anthem for the summer. The LA-based six-piece band was once of the “shimmering indie-rock” variety, but now, on their third album Night Drive, Private Island is making bold steps with a much darker, blues-infused, polished vibe. “Our upcoming album,” the band told me, “is an exploration of a new sound for the band. We hope new listeners will like it as well as our fans that have been with us since the beginning. ‘Turbulence’ is our first single in 16 ​months, and it’s about Me, You, and Us…” So listen up, and catch tour dates below.
