Easy Love, the new solo project of Summer Twins’ Justine Brown, sounds and feels just like, well, some easy love. But look beneath the surface of her intrinsically poppy melodies and you’ll find a vulnerable voice laden with heartache and regret. “I betrayed the person I loved the most,” Brown says, referencing the force behind her musical transformation. Her debut self-titled tape dropped February 3rd on Burger and Lolipop, and today, we’re happy to premiere their video for lead single, “I Want You To Know”. Check it out.
“My sister and I made this video on a whim. I was in a really creative mood at the grocery store with her one day and we thought it would be cool to film a video there. I have a sloth onesie in my closet that I’ve worn the past couple of years for Halloween. The next day I put it on and Chelsea filmed me walking around Highland Park and Little Tokyo. We spent the day there, got ramen, frozen yogurt, and explored. We’ve always been obsessed with Japanese fashion and kawaii animal characters growing up. This was a dream environment for us!”
The video was directed by Chelsea Brown (of Summer Twins), and edited by Matt Hogan and Justine Brown. Catch Easy Love on some upcoming shows with live band Justine Brown (lead vocals and rhythm guitar), Chelsea Brown (harmony vocals and lead guitar), Natalie Burris (bass), and Dave Jauregui (drums). –Maya Eslami
