We got it from Here… Thank You 4 Your service. Pretty much the perfect title for a farewell album. And if you don’t know what I’m talking about, well, get ready to jog your 90s memory. A Tribe Called Quest, the insanely influential hip-hop crew from New York, have released their sixth and final album, and it’s jam packed with guests and filled with their signature political commentary and it’s maybe the most important album you’ll hear all year. 

Featuring original members Q-Tip, Ali Shaheed Muhammad, Jarobi White, and the late great Phife Dawg (the album was nearly completed in 2015, months before his death), We got it from Here…. also enlists Busta Rhymes, Andre 3000, Kendrick Lamar, Elton John on an amazing “Bennie and the Jets” sample, Talib Kweli, and more. But beyond the glitz of the guest list, the album’s politically charged focus is exactly what we need right now. 

Q-Tip went on the Daily Show with Trevor Noah last night and spoke about the political message behind the album. Watch the clip below, and soak in this bit of wisdom.
