Listen to Cory Hanson The Wand / Muggers member unveils solo debut album

Cory Hanson, lead singer and guitarist of Wand and former member of the Muggers (RIP),  has announced his solo debut album, The Unborn Capitalist From Limbo, and it’s maybe the most beautiful thing I’ve heard all year. Check out the first two singles, “Ordinary People” and “Replica” below.

Described as a “lyrical rendering of personal/political woes centered around the shifting role of the Other, while reveling in ambiguous, often surrealist images,” the album is flat out stunning, and Hanson’s voice, with its familiar Tim Presley tone, works beautifully with the cascading violins that weave this album together like a warm quilt.

Tomorrow’s election day, and unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for the last 16 months, you’re probably anxious, angry, and all sorts of frustrated. So listen to some comedown music that’ll let you escape, just for a moment, to a place far, far away. –Maya Eslami
