Listen to Yung Danish punk rock that’ll remind you of KROQ, in a good way

Remember when KROQ was cool, and listening to Blink-182 and 311 on the way to first period in your mom’s Subaru station wagon was the only thing that could assuage your overwhelming teenage angst? Well, Yung, a new punk rock band from Denmark, have somehow tapped into that quintessential California sound with their debut album, A Youthful Dream. Released just last month on Fat Possum Records, the album has drawn comparisons to The Replacements and Jay Reatard. And although frontman Mikkel Holm Silkjær has probably never seen the California coast, I imagine his dreams are filled with waves and sand and nostalgia so rich you can almost taste it. –Maya Eslami
