“Everybody’s trying to tell me what to do. It makes me wanna break some shit and sniff some glue.” The opening line of Deap Vally’s new single “Smile More” is more or less a guide to understanding this powerful, femme fatale oozing band of babes. After nearly three years of laying low since their debut, Deap Vally – Julie Edwards and Lindsey Troy – announced yesterday the release of their forthcoming album, the amazingly titled Femejism. Say that a few times out loud. Femejism. Set to drop September 16th on Nevado Music, Femejism was produced by Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ guitarist Nick Zinner. And to go along with the announcement of Femejism, Deap Vally released a brand new video for the single “Smile More”. Check it out. And don’t miss Deap Vally on tour in support of Femejism starting in July. I really just love writing Femejism. –Maya Eslami
