“Boner pop”? That’s right. The Nude Party from Boone, North Carolina describe themselves as such, and they may have invented my new favorite music genre.

A little bit garage, a little bit psych surf, these dudes know how to jam, and their laid-back jokester vibe makes me want to listen to them that much more. Check out their music video for “Life’s A Joke” off their 2015 EP Hot Tub.

The Nude Party embrace a self-described “precocious predisposition towards the Kinks, the Animals and the Velvets,” but that doesn’t mean they’re just another ’60s sounding group. These dudes know the difference between imitation and inspiration. With two self-produced, self-released EPs in the bag, plus some bragging rights as openers for the Growlers and Jacuzzi Boys, The Nude Party have my attention. And really, who doesn’t love a reference to nudity and parties? –Maya Eslami
