Cass McCombs released his long-awaited collection of songs A Folk Set Apart: Rarities, B-Sides & Space Junk, Etc. today on Domino Records. And in conjunction with the release, the singer songwriter also debuted a new video for “I Cannot Lie,” off the album.

The video, directed by Malcolm Pullinger, starts off with archival footage of the brilliant writer Ken Kesey, and evolves into a sequence of shots of what looks like San Francisco in the 70s, rife with the Merry Pranksters Further bus, Black Panther Stokely Carmichael, and, you know, hippies and freaks and a kid running down a crowded sidewalk.

“I Cannot Lie” was originally released in 2003 on the single I Cannot Lie / A.Y.D. And, if you remember, the song was used back in 2010 for a Gravis skate video of Dylan Rieder.
