We had a dream too. It was to bring together two of our favorite surfers — Ozzie Wright, the trippy gothic pirate hippie goon of doom who’s generally wandering the globe sliding across rocks and airing off anything he can find and Owen Wright, the ASP World Title contender, and freesurfing wizard with an artistic infatuation for claws — together in one place. And we wanted to document it, always and forever.
Owen Wright told me that he was once called “Ozzie Wright” by announcer Rockin’ Fig for an entire U.S. Open of Surfing when he was a grom. Which just made this so much better. In our first episode of what will very unofficially become a new series starring our two favorite modern goofyfoots, we go to Bali, give them some pens to draw claws with and a pretty damn good left to get into and let them freestyle the rest.
Be sure to check out What Youth Issue 3, on sale tomorrow lovers!! for some more very candid conversations and photos from the art sessions between these two.
