Watch Venga Venga Mitch Coleborn in Mexico on Super 8

Mitch Coleborn synced up with filmmaker Jack Colemanliterally, Jack’s a maker of films, on film, not memory cards, real legit celluloid panels in a mechanical camera.

We sent Mitch and Jack out into the world together with no clear assignment or parameters. Jack tells what happened next:

Jack Coleman: With Mitch we set out for a day trip stealth strike into Mexico. Tom Carey [photographer/awesome] took us to a secret spot with his Jet Ski and crew, we met at 5 a.m. and started our journey. Upon arrival the waves were small so we took a drive down the coast looking for swell.

It was smaller than anticipated, so we grabbed some tacos from a street-side truck that I’ve eaten at before. After tacos we went back to the secret beach, and then things got interesting. The sun popped out and the waves picked up a bit, and hundreds of locals swarmed the beach as vendors sold candy, mangos and fish. Mitch decided it was time to get a few waves, the Jet Ski was launched and the rest of the day was an aerial assault like I’ve never seen before in person. Mitch was getting towed into these little doinkers and was blasting the hugest airs, and the Mexican crowd went into a frenzy. About a thousand people lined the shore and the locals loved it.

We hung in the beautiful Mexican sun till we ran out of film and energy. The next day Mitch left for a contest in Brazil. It was quite a warmup.
