Dane was home this weekend. A classic California pre-summer day: lots of blue, couple fun waves and lots of traffic. We met up with Dane at Rincon, where he surfed glassy and “1-foot but perfect” Rincon for an hour on a Channel Island twin fin (with a small trailer). He had earlier told me his bruised butt and injured vertebrae from a fall at Pipe had kept him on a twin fin recently, but his explosive and flowing surfing was still beautiful to watch.
Over the course of the next 48 hours we got to live like a member of the Reynolds family. We hosted a barbecue with an impromptu and random gathering that including Austyn Gillette, Curren Caples and Jake Anderson. We met Sammy Boo. We played with Pam and Boogie. And got a rare glimpse into one of the most interesting families there is.
We also learned that the Reynolds family about to grow. Courtney is pregnant again!
Aside from all this exciting news, Dane Reynolds is raising a new brand, and continues to be intrigued and amped by surfing, and the prospects of certain waves are what he’s after now. “California doesn’t have that many waves that truly thrill me, so I love doing trips for that.” Much more to come… —Travis
