We call our intern “neck tan Nick.” He’s the office shred turkey. And yesterday between watering the plants and taking out garbage and telling us about which local sandbar might yield a fun surf he said, ” I need to watch something sick to get amped. It’s been so small. What’s coming out?”
I happily told him that Globe was here to save him. And would be releasing Cult of Freedom, a 20 or so minute short filmed in Australia with all the boys. Noa, Taj, Dion, Creed, BG, EG. This was year-saving news to him.
I had lunch with Joe G on Monday and as we dipped chips in salsas, cheese, beans and rice, we discussed the new vid. And the title, which signifies, for the first time ever, the entire Globe team free: of jersey and competitive obligation. “Taj and Damo used to be our comp guys, and this is the first project we’ve done in which all the guys are totally free. And I think you can sense that.”
And while it may be strange days out in the “surf world,” it’s nice to know that we’re all going to end the year with a new Globe vid, and they’re also teeing up part two for early next year. Set your VCR to What Youth for Monday November 13, we’ll be World premiering it for free. And if you’re in the So Cal area, there is a premiere in Hermosa Beach Friday, November 10th at Spider Surfboards. And we’re working on a renegade one for San Diego this month too. Stay tuned.
Curious what it’s going to look like? Well, below you will get a glimpse at Cult of Freedom. Next week, we’ll have your first moving visions. Time to rip. —Travis
