Noa Deane’s dad is one of the finest competitive surfers Australia has ever known. Wayne Deane’s list of accolades is lengthy, he owns a successful surfboard business and he was inducted into the Australian Surfing Hall of Fame in 2003. But despite his incredible competitive success, he never forced that onto his son, and we’d like to thank him for allowing Noa to trailblaze his own path without a jersey, so now he can and jump over boats and shit.

This is Noa filming for Cluster, further emphasizing his commitment to pulling the gnarliest things he can outside of a jersey, influenced more by Baker 3 and videos than the modern competitive scene, showing kids that a singlet isn’t the only way: “I want to show kids that you can freesurf and have way more fun than doing comps. And my dad, he just encouraged me to just do whatever you want and that worked better for me.”
