Editor’s Note: Blake Myers is Kai Neville and What Youth’s mascot/employee/filmmaker/creative Kiwi. He’s been making Lego videos and films for years now, and he’s also pretty good at snapping interesting photos along the way. The moments that usually go unoticed — which we thrive on. He’ll be contributing to Photo Credit and unearthing his archive of images as well. We start with a classic trip, one of the first that showed up in What Youth Issue 1, and Dear Suburbia as well.
Blake Myers: “During this trip we stayed in Dunedin for a week and got the worst waves ever. Howling offshore. Too high tide. No swell. It was a hustle and a struggle. This photo was taken at the hotel/house we stayed in. We would all huddle in the lounge to keep warm. Drink Speights beer and watch videos. After a week of hustling to find something, we all agreed to head south and try our luck down there. Thankfully something gave, and we scored three days of waves.
Delirium on a trip is the best. You get the guys being themselves and capture the funniest moments.”
