Black Sabbath played last night at the Hollywood Bowl, and I was there, lucky beyond any measure, to have witnessed what they’re calling their last tour ever, appropriately and painfully called “The End.” With almost all original members on stage – Prince of Darkness Ozzy, Godfather of Metal Tony Iommi, and bass legend Geezer Butler – Black Sabbath slayed, and that word doesn’t even do it justice. And touring drummer Tommy Clufetos, sitting in for Bill Ward, held up to the legendary metal band’s standards.
But this isn’t a show review. There was no journalistic integrity happening last night. I was there at what could be the last Black Sabbath show in California ever as a fan, and nothing else. And while I’d love to show you pictures and videos of the epicness that unfolded, I’ll just take the opportunity to share some of my favorite Sabbath tracks, for anyone who missed the show, and anyone who’s still buzzing off that insane performance and doesn’t want “The End” to end. –Maya Eslami
