Ah, yes print. It’s that wonderful thing that brought us all together to make great things. It’s also the thing lots of people like to remind us is some bleak, decrepit, dying cause. In short: print is one of the most tremendous mediums and we’re a bunch of masochists for sticking to it. And we wouldn’t want to have it any other way.

Anyways, Community Service is an art book fair going down in LA this weekend. Put together by Mike Krim, of Paperwork NYC, and Paige Silveria, Community Service will exhibit both new and emerging print publications. It’ll feature magazines like Office Magazine, Amadeus Magazine, ourselves and a whole bunch of others. There will also be photography and art and food and drinks and all that good stuff. It’s sure to be a wonderful time.

“We have a great curated list of established and emerging artists, galleries, publishers, etc. (And it’s not just limited to visual art; we have Terrible Records as well.) We also are presenting a group show of young artists, curated by Manon Macasaet (friends Petra Collins, Sabrina Fluentes and Mayan Toledano) and it’s her first time curating. The exhibition will be showcased in a rental truck, parked out front of the venue. We have an after party at The Ace where Brooke Wise will be screening her “Aloha From Hell” film series.” –Paige Silveria

It’s all going down at The Void on 801 Mateo St. Los Angeles, CA 90021. Punch that into maps and make sure to get there around 7pm on Friday. Things will be going down until 10pm. And if you miss that, it’s starting back up on Saturday from 10am-7pm.
