Tonight your Friday evening cocktail has a date that will nestle right into that sensual place where the cherry hits your tongue. That’s the feeling of contemporary musical notes and eloquent tunes parading from Mild High Club’s new album Skiptracing, which dropped today on Stones Throw.
I’m not about to write a critical essay comparing this album to other artists and genres or categorize it into oblivion. There’s simply no need to compare a cultivated piece of music.
You already heard a couple of tunes off the album earlier in the summer, but that was only a surface factor to the final piece of work. Now it’s time to take the full plunge into Alex Brettin’s conceptualized story full of mystery which entangles itself with baroque elements.
Listen from start to finish and don’t bother skipping songs. Then repeat. And don’t forget to catch them on tour. –Asal Shahindoust
