Peach Kelli Pop sounds exactly like their name: warm, bright, poppy, like your favorite flavor of zebra fruit stripe chewing gum. Formed in 2010 by Allie Hanlon and quickly snatched up by the Burger Records family, Peach Kelli Pop has three full lengths and a handful of 7″ releases under their belts. They’ve toured the world, and done every local gig up and down the OC/LA circuit. Together with Gina and Sophie Negrini (on bass and guitar respectively) and Shelly Schimek (on drums), Allie is ready for the next step. And the next step is now.
Their new album Which Witch, an EP with six fresh, short cuts to keep you pressing that repeat button, is dropping April 21st on Mint Records, and it’s a doozy. Watch their video for first single “Crooked & Crazy,” complete with lyrics in bright bubbly letters, and sing along. It’s the perfect way to get your day going. –Maya Eslami
“I wrote ‘Crooked & Crazy’ when I was feeling really disappointed and alienated. I had never experienced such an array of negative feelings about myself, my progress, my path in life, but still needed to go about my day to day life. The song is about how that negativity and self-contempt can eventually become normalized and just a regular part of your every day life. In a way it’s about accepting defeat and moving on.” –Allie Hanlon
