Vivian Maier was a nanny with a secret. Throughout her entire life, she had a passion for photography that she told no one about. Not even her closest friends. It wasn’t discovered until her archive of film and photography was purchased at an auction for $380, after she had died.
Her images are fleeting moments and incredibly intimate portraits of people of the street. She called herself a spy to her friends, but they never knew why. And while she would roll over in her grave if she knew what was happening now (she was terrified of attention or fame), her archive has set the art and photography world’s ablaze.
