Tropical Popsicle are simultaneously laid back yet serious when it comes to their music. They cruised into the music scene back in 2011, throwing in there a collective mix of psych, post punk, and jangle pop. Our friends at Lolipop Records put their first album, The Dawn of Delight, out on tape in 2013 and after jamming out a bunch of shows following the release, the hype turned real.
Based out of San Diego, Trop Pop started out as a solo project for Tim Hines, but quickly progressed into their ideal assemble that it is today. Chase Elliot, Kyle Whatley and Ryan Hand join Tim to create a fantasy feel of summer and spring all mixed into one.
Coming back from a two year hiatus, Trop Pop has new songs that are dreamier and melodic than ever. The new songs showcase each member’s musical talents to the fullest.
The guys let us chill with them one sunny San Diego afternoon at their jam space. Watch our interview and get to know your new favorite band. Then, make sure to catch them play on May 30th with Froth at Salt Creek Beach for the Cosmic Creek festival.
