You’ll remember we achieved the perfect three beer buzz upon arrival in Chicago. But we thought we’d make sure you knew where we took it from there. We marched it down the cold and breezy streets of Chicago and into the front row of The Empty Bottle to see Natural Child, The Half Rats, The Yolks and Aquarian Blood. And this is that. Us in front.
I will also let you in on a little secret about hanging with the Brixton family: It’s always the greatest time of your life. When you’re not dancing to great live music, we were sampling the local food, drink, bars, pubs, shops or dancing wherever the jazz was at late. This trip specialized in dive bars and dominating juke boxes all over the Wicker Park neighborhood. And while being drenched by a pretty damn persistent rain led to us missing a bucket-list-check-off of viewing a Cubs game at Wrigley Field, we more than made us for it with good living all over the city.
As soon as all the rowdy behavior you’ll find below finished, we washed it all down the next morning with Mexican lager and orange juice at Happy Village while watching Roseanne re-runs and moved from there onto fried chicken and biscuits from Buck’s (which is directly across the street from Bangers and Lace, home of the world’s best beer) on Division Street and then started getting rowdy again at Gold Star Bar and really put the dancing shoes on at Rainbo Club, which was followed by an Uber to Chicago O’Hare International Airport at 4:30am. And here we are. Home, feeling nostalgic for all this fun we had rocking out. Stop missing the Brixton Broadcasts and make sure you’re there next time. I hear we might be heading to Amsterdam…yeah, that should be fun.—Travis
