“This isn’t going to be like any of my other films.” That was the first thing Thomas Campbell told me about this new project. He then went on to describe his vision a bit — which is always a fascinating journey, listening to an artist describe what they see in their mind over the phone. But I actually got it. Right way. It sounded like a fever dream, where the characters at play are some of the world’s most stylish, dancing their way through a psychedelic aquatic voyage. Back dropped by an extraterrestrial landscape. Of hills. Both sandy and liquid. And a unique array of slipping and sliding across these dusty and liquid dunes. After that, Thomas hung up and mailed us a wonderful box of inspiration. It’s all here. The sliders. The trinkets. The early stitching of a new film: a fevered trance of surfing that we’re ready to get lose ourselves inside.
We begin with Craig Anderson and Ryan Burch, who found impossible mounds of sand and blue on their first voyage. Thomas Campbell’s next film will be coming very soon. This is your first fevered visions.
We’ll be diving into more of these visions this week right here on site.
