It was Wednesday morning when we picked up the big white van in Orange County. Planes took off from the nearby airport and the hustle of 8 a.m. was well underway. Donuts and smoothies were being consumed. People driving with eyes glued to their phones as we ticked the box on the rental agreement for all the insurance we can handle. The proprietor dropped the keys in my hand and just like that, we were on a trip.
The itinerary was pretty simple once we stopped and grabbed Andrew Doheny from his house, Yago Dora from the Denny’s by LAX and Brendon Gibbens and Dillon Perillo: drive north. We had loose accommodations in Santa Cruz and in San Francisco and the rest would be a wind and swell witch hunt in one of the most conspicuous road trip vehicles ever: an 18-passenger van with 4 pro surfers, 2 filmers and a driver.
From today until we release the film for your free viewing pleasure on Thursday, January 21 we’ve got quite a vault of fun from the road. Videos, characters, people, waves and stories from inside the van. Literally. So come along for the ride, every day we’ve got more weird shit from the road just for you.—Travis
