Editor’s note: So yeah, Oblow just went from Reese Forbes to Tom Carroll. I rest my case: he’s a legend among legends. —Travis

Mark Oblow: “i can’t remember when the first time i met tom was, but i think it was at sandy beach for one of the gotcha contests they had there. i was 12. i had known of him through surfing and always looked up to him. pure bad ass. he fucked pipe up and got respect. later during my time with quiksilver, i got to go on a bunch of different trips with him and we hit it off! energy feeds off energy. but still to this day when i see him even comment on one of my posts, i get so excited it’s like im a kid again. his show on netflix is sick too! he goes over the falls on a jet ski and holds on the entire way never once thinking of jumping off. tom is a pure inspiration, a fucking legend and an epic human. shot on a hasselblad H1, 50-110mm, illford delta, 400 pro 120.”

Perry Farrell, Coachella 2001 Back Den 027

Editor’s Note: Coachella has been at it for a long time. And leave it to Oblow to still manage to find a moment, from the stage in the desert that feels timeless, and timely. This time, on a grandiose scale: Perry Farrell, live. In Oblow lowercase. —Travis  “perry farrell, live with jane’s addiction at coachella in 2001….
