“I’m in Europe, heading to Iceland tomorrow for Globe, going to be so goddamn cold! Then I’m back to France for two weeks, then Berlin for a week, then New York, then Maine, then back to LA, then home to Byron for summer [Northern Hemisphere’s winter]. Can’t wait!”
That’s from an email Dion sent us last week.
I think it helps illustrate how it is that he’s become such a good photographer, with this amazing archive of frozen moments, all shot on film and not digital.
Dion is just places. He’s here, there, gone, Maine, Iceland, Berlin…he’s places. And he’s places with people, doing things, and has such a fastidious habit of shooting that when moments arise he’s ready to capture.
Above are a few of those moments from Dion’s recent travels, along with his words on how they came about.
We’re pleased to have some of Dion’s photography in What Youth Quarterly Issue Two, out now in the What Youth shop.
