Hundreds of you came out. The tacos were free. The music was good. There was more free Pacifico and Jose Cuervo than we knew what to do with (imagine that) and the Loma Street Market was ready to explode in confetti after a warm up screening of Toby Cregan’s surf film Nix Nic Nooley, a Charles Peterson photo gallery, a fucking amazing set by The Rooms. But then, just as Kim House from Kim and the Created slithered down the loft pole in a skin tight bodysuit of money, howling lyrics, we were told it all had to end. The too much fun club was getting thrown out. Apparently all of thisĀ really pissed off the Long Beach police department.
But it’s not like they can keep us down. Every one ended up back at The Pike down the street, I think some of us were kicked out eventually, but it was Blake’s birthday and we just refused to finish our doubleheader on a cop note. So we kept going. And we’re already planning the makeup show, because you can’t fucking cut Kim off mid set. We were just getting into it.
But we must thank the guys at Kr3w, Loma Street Market and everyone who came out. Hopefully you grabbed a mag, a few free drinks, checked a vid and developed a hangover for Friday in the time we had together.
What Youth issue 11 is now on sale and we’re really fucking proud of it. And we hope you’ll buy one.
