Dirty Beaches are the sounds created by Alex Zhang Hungtai. Using just about any damn thing laying on the Internet or ground, Alex can create any mood or vibe — which seems to always beam to us in black and white. He’s fascinated us all for a long time. His jam “Sweet Seventeen” is Kolohe Andino’s part in Lost Atlas. He scored our good friend Jeremy Asher Lynch’s film The Hippo and he’s got two tracks in Nti Sheeto. We also saw him in Brooklyn two years ago with Craig Anderson and Warren Smith.
The other night Alex played at The Echo in Los Angeles and we managed to briefly chat about dickhead bouncers in Nashville and how the fuck you make this much noise for very cheap.
Also, here are some photos, songs and tour dates for Dirty Beaches as well, if you’re so inclined to rad shit of that nature.
