Austyn Gillette at home in Los Angeles, California Collected Thoughts 045

Austyn Gillette fairly normal collected thought what youth skateboarding

We went to Austyn Gillette’s house this week. And for those of you who haven’t met him, the two best places to start would be here, his section for Habitat, and then in what is probably one of our favorite short films of the year, a collab shot across and amongst the streets of Los Angeles for the Berrics. It’s fucking beautiful. And now we’ll take it from there.
Without knowing much we recently went over to his house to hangout. We quickly realized that he’s beat the game of life. Beautiful girls hungout in the yard with his epic dog Walter, while he jammed away on guitar, singing and recording in a room converted into a music studio. He’s a crazy-talented and stylish professional skater to be sure — but we got a closer look and like what we found. We’re now in the final stages of a brand new episode of Fairly Normal.
Coming soon: Fairly Normal Austyn Gillette.

They’re leaving the strange party they wandered into after a Dirty Beaches show at Williamsburg’s Glasslands Gallery — truly they did, they sauntered all Australian through some odd open side door and into someone’s loft, where…

John John Florence in Barbados

John John in Barbados Collected Thoughts 001

This is John John Florence by the ghost of an Olympic pool at an abandoned resort in the parish of St. Lucy near the northern tip of Barbados, and what a useless cavity in the ground has he got here. The walls are too vertical to skate, there’s no water to ease the heat, there’s…
